What Is A Habit?  
A habit is an acquired behaviour and is any action that we have performed so often that it becomes almost an involuntary response. This habitual behaviour is generally unnoticed in the person exhibiting it since it becomes subconsciously performed and often compulsory. It is not something that is easy to admit, but most of us have at least one bad habit. Our lives are habitual. What you did yesterday you will most likely do today and do again tomorrow.

It is estimated that out of every 11,000 signals we receive from our senses, our brain only consciously processes 40. That’s a lot of involuntary activities going on. This can be a good thing, as it makes much of our daily routine somewhat effortless. Imagine having to focus intently on every little thing you did, like washing dishes or taking out the garbage. Sounds exhausting, doesn’t it?

 Some Habits Are Described as Good Habits And Others As Bad Habits
A habit that we (or others) consider undesirable is given the ‘bad’ label. Bad habits like smoking have countless hours and dollars spent each year in the attempt to break them, but what is no more than a habit to one person may be an irritation to another who happens to be in close proximity.

Habits can negatively affect people’s lives considerably.
While we do other kinds of mistakes occasionally, a bad habit is something we do consistently over and over. If even one mistake can drag your life down, you can imagine what kind of damage a bad habit can do. To make matters worse, often we don’t realise that we have a bad habit. We think that we just live our life as usual while we are actually making mistakes over and over again.
